GENERAL INTEREST AND BOOK INFORMATION

www.econoclad.com    ------A great web site for locating quality books on many various levels and subjects.  There is a large selection of early readers that have Guided Reading Levels.  You can also search for books according to interest, reading level, subject, etc…..  There are teacher tips and ideas included but my favorite was the listing of Award Winning Books!!  You can order these on line and they are library quality books with hard backs.  A great resource for teachers and librarians.

http://kids.mysterynet.com/      A good site for students to find short but interesting stories to solve.  Asks them to tell whom they suspect and then registers the % of other students who select the various options.  Also, offers a magic trick, which has been a favorite for some students.

http://www.toread.com/       This site serves as a clearinghouse for a variety of information on teaching reading including current research, teaching techniques, and other professional materials.  It is updated regularly and has extensive resources.

This is the site of the Internet School Library Media Center (ISLMC) and it is a tremendous site for finding out about books, methods, and other links regarding children and books.  It also offers resources on other Language Arts Activities such as Reader’s Theater, Poetry, and Drama.  There are numerous links, which I am eager to explore.
