1. Browse multiple listings of listservs on the Directory of Scholarly Electronic
Conferences Home page to appreciate the tremendous diversity of discussion groups
available.
2. Post a short introductory note about who you are, what your interests are, and why
you subscribed to a listserv. You will typically be surprised with kind, helpful
responses from folks offering you resources and assistance.
3. Browse through messages in one or more listservs to see how people are using
them.
4. Click here to see an alphabetical list of online journals, which are like listservs but
with a more organized format. Online journals have editors who collect "articles" from
the listserv subscribers and then send out "issues" at regularly scheduled times. They
are the online equivalent of magazines or trade journals (hence the name).
