| Monitoring Important National Telecommunications Legislation
Important telecommunications legislation is being debated that may severely
compromise your right to access information, the privacy of your personal information
and your students personal information. Most of the general public doesn't understand
the far reaching effects decisions currently being made will have on their rights as
citizens.
The Communications Act of 1934 defined telecom regulation for the six decades that
followed. The Telecommunications Reform act of 1996 was passed in February 1996
and will have a similar lasting impact. The full text of the bill is available here.
Complaints that first amendment rights are compromised by this bill are detailed in the
following documents: Rights1, Rights2
