Obscene Materials on the Internet

A great deal has been written about the fact that the Internet is uncensored and objectionable materials are easily available to anyone with full access. During 1995, the media sensationalized the Internet as a vehicle for pornography, bomb making, and pedophile contact with children. And, of course, there is some truth in what was written. The counter argument that much of what is found on the Internet can also be found in the corner drug store is also true. However, this argument does not absolve schools from taking proactive measures concerning the access of students to the Internet from the school. It would be a sad day if all the potential benefits of the Net were lost because no one gave thought to how to deal with its less desirable aspects

In this lesson, some of the options available to schools will be considered.
