RE: Your Invitation to Innovate….

Greetings,

You are invited to participate in AISD’s Innovations Incubator;

AISD has received funding from Connect Alaska for an Innovations Incubator program to experiment with new ways of sharing digital innovations online, locally and statewide.

We would like to hear about your ideas, priorities, and technical assistance needs;

What's the best we can do together to have fun with meaningful innovations in service to the community, and all learners?

AISD’S Innovations Incubator Goals:

To save AISD educators time, and improve teaching, using new cool tools and innovations.

To raise awareness for the new opportunities broadband and mobile devices offer for self-directed learning,
      self-employment, digital storytelling, and making a difference in the lives of others, locally and globally.

To create a replicable model for all Alaska Native villages for community and cultural sustainability, sharing innovations and mentoring support online.

To empower individual lifestyles “Making the living you want, living wherever you want.”

Personalized technical assistance is available for;

          Creating your own classroom website and/or web-based curriculum

          Learning cool new digital tools to save yourself time, and improve your students’ experience, both within and outside your classroom.

          Growing an entrepreneurial culture, starting in primary grades.

Flextime, mastery learning, online recertification courses are available.

Assistance finding specific resources, and/or other needs.

Frank Odasz, president of Lone Eagle Consulting, is partnering with AISD offering AISD’s educators, students, and local citizens;
mentoring support, technical assistance, short video tutorials, and online recertification courses via the Alaska Staff Development Network
throughout the coming school year, 2014-2015. Frank has been teaching rural teachers online since 1988, and Alaskan educators since 1998.

Welcome to the AISD Innovations Incubator!

The historic Tsimshian tradition of creative adaptation has been one of helping one another survive by being intentionally innovative and entrepreneurial.

Modern Internet connectivity, mobile devices, in many ways, are being reinvented to serve Tsimshian citizens, wherever they may choose to live, guided by Tsimshian values.

Metlakatla is already the first Alaska Native Digital Village, and has the opportunity to inspire all other Alaska Native villages by sharing both values, and vision, for sustainable cultures and communities.

As a new form of Virtual Potlatch, the spirit of Alaska Native Giving can make both a statewide and global impact.

An open invitation to all to share Tsimshian values;

See the videos, free local websites, cool ebooks, and more, that were created during or after the six days of workshops from
the Spring 2013 Digitizing Alaska pilot project. Hear from those local innovators who recommended continued innovations and inspired this current Innovations Incubator project.
