“Retired - Now What?”

Frank,

For the past several weeks I've been exploring post-retirement issues that have concerned me greatly over the last year, and I felt that the areas I've investigated warrant a hotlist that might be of use to other retired educators - I know my research has helped me. So here's what I've put together as my project.

I've come to the conclusion that retirement basically means "doing something else" (sounds obvious, but it wasn't, at least for me), which may or may not involve money - but the key is to remain active and engaged in DOING something. Whether earning money after retirement involves a "Teach From Any Beach" approach or perhaps actually returning to campus classroom instruction, this course has helped me tremendously to glimpse what resources and methods are available to everyone, anytime, anywhere. Teaching in the public schools will never be the same, that's for sure, and any teacher who fails to grasp that fact is in trouble.
