Course Description

This online Internet course is designed specifically for non-technical learners as a first online learning experience. This non-credit mastery learning online course offers ten two-hour lessons covering the basics of buying and selling on the Internet - called "Ecommerce," and for working at home via the Internet called "Telework."

This hands-on overview of what's working for others like you includes activities exploring many of the best Ecommerce and telework training materials and resources available - from which you'll easily be able to determine the resources best suited for your continued self-directed learning.

This Ecommerce course is designed to develop an accurate self-assessment of individuals' current skills and to develop a defined pathway for continued skill development. The goal is also to develop realistic personal strategies based on the best knowledge and resources available. This course focuses on becoming aware of opportunities. It is designed to be an enjoyable, fun, social, learning experience.

How Does It Work?

All you need is a computer, basic point and click skills, a means of getting on the Internet and your own email account, (free at http://hotmail.com/ or http://yahoo.com/.) This course is presented in a mastery learning format, which means you master the skills as you "learn by doing." 

This printed guide, "A Beginner’s Guide to Profiting from the Internet (Rural Ecommerce and Telework Strategies)" is included with the course.  It may also be purchased. 

Basic computer literacy skills are strongly recommended. However, if your computer skills are weak, you may need extra patience with yourself and your computer. Most tasks using computers and the Internet are easy. Patience and perseverance are the keys to success during the initial confidence-building process, particularly if you're still nervous around computers. When you have questions, you're encouraged to email your instructor.

The most important thing you'll need to bring to this class is a good attitude and a willingness to explore new possibilities. This is an online learning adventure. Each lesson is presented in the following format:

Lesson Goals - A checklist of what you'll learn in each specific lesson.
Hands-on Activities - Activities to build your confidence, skills, and knowledge.
To Complete This Lesson - Simple specific requirements to complete each lesson.
Optional Skill-Builder Activities - Additional resources and hands-on activities.

Course Cost

$49 for ten two-hour lessons.  This is a mastery learning non-credit online course. You can begin at anytime and work at your own pace. The lessons are unrestricted for those who don't wish to pay anything at all. Paid registration will include your subscription to the class listserv to receive regular updates for one full year and the opportunity to interact with others taking the class including sharing of success stories and new online resources. A printed handbook of all the online lessons will be sent to you, as well.
