A Beginner’s Guide to Profiting from the InternetWelcome to
Note: Before continuing, be sure you've read the Course Description and Registration Information at http://lone-eagles.com/ecom-registration.htm
This course is intended to give you a hands-on overview of what's working for rural citizens like yourself regarding making money using the Internet whether it is selling products you've created or buying products at one price from one source and reselling them at a higher price elsewhere. Making money buying and selling online is called "Ecommerce." More and more people are finding they can work at home for businesses located elsewhere just by learning to send and receive email and work files. This is called "Telework."
While many adults are nervous around computers, most of our youth find computers exciting and fun. With a little patience and perseverance you'll find that you can have fun, too. Because there are so many resources on the Internet, it can be overwhelming, but as you learn how to easily find specific information it will become more and more useful.
Important Tips for Conducting the Lessons
1. Take notes on each lesson to keep track of the web addresses you will want to return to later.
2. Read each lesson before reviewing the lesson websites. Note the online lessons will be frequently updated, and it is recommended you regularly check the online versions for updates.
3. Conduct the step-by-step hands-on activities for an introduction to some of the best resources on the Internet related to the topic for each lesson. While it is possible to spend unlimited amounts of time exploring, budget your time to fit your convenience.
4. Note that this course is the shortened fast-track version of the advanced course “Rural Ecommerce and Telework Strategies” which includes creating an online resume and a special certificate of completion. It is supported by a 211-page handbook with extensive resources including rural community leadership resources, K-12 integration, a local train-the-trainer model, rural community grant templates and grant-writing resources, and more. The new updated version will be available April 2004. For more information on the advanced course and the printed handbook go to http://lone-eagles.com/ecommerce-registration.htm. The printed handbook is also online at http://lone-eagles.com/eguide.htm.
5. During the hands-on lessons, you're invited to ask questions of the instructor electronically (email) whenever necessary.
6. There are optional readings and hands-on activities for each lesson for continued explorations.
